When would you make a plied yarn instead of a single ply? You will learn how to create a balanced yarn and how to make 2, 3 or 4 ply yarns, and cabled yarns.
I have a few spinning wheels that are available for the workshops, but participants are encouraged to bring along their own wheel if they can as each wheel has its own characteristics.
All of my hand spinning workshops use commercially prepared, clean and carded batts or roving. I prefer not to use fleece straight off the sheep. (Life is too short so I leave the messy bits to those who are qualified and have the space and equipment required to clean fleece properly.) If you wish to learn how to spin, clean and sort raw fleece there are many other classes and teachers that can get you started such as:
